"EMJ Metāls" Supplier Code of Ethics

Reliable and high-quality suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers (hereinafter referred to as "Partners") are an essential part of "EMJ Metāls" operations. Our company, "EMJ Metāls", is committed to conducting business responsibly in all aspects, and we expect the same from our partners. This code of ethics is based on "EMJ Metāls" values and operating principles, which can be read below.


We expect our partners to follow these principles in all their activities and ensure that their subcontractors also comply with these principles.

1. Compliance with Laws


"EMJ metāls", SIA, partners must comply with all applicable national and international laws. If the principles described in this document do not align with the legal requirements, the supplier must adhere to the requirements outlined in this code of ethics.


2. Ethics


2.1. Corruption and Bribery


We will not accept any partner practices that support coercion, bribery, or corruption in any form. Partners and their employees must not accept or give bribes to obtain or retain business advantages or other benefits.

Partners are prohibited from offering "EMJ Metāls" employees trips, factory visits, social events, gifts, or other benefits that are not directly related to work and may unduly influence such business relationships. "EMJ Metāls" employees always cover their own travel and accommodation expenses.


2.2. Conflicts of Interest


Partners must avoid situations that could create financial or other conflicts of interest related to "EMJ Metāls" or its employees.


2.3. Fair Competition


 Partners must comply with competition laws and not restrict competition in their field. Partners must have guidelines and procedures in place to prevent management or employees from engaging in anti-competitive activities.


2.4. Money Laundering and Sanctions Compliance


Partners must operate in accordance with laws governing money laundering and applicable sanctions.


2.5. Confidentiality and Data Protection


Partners must comply with data protection laws, ensure data confidentiality, and not disclose business relationship data to third parties.


3. Employees and Human Rights


"EMJ Metāls" adheres to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the eight core conventions of the ILO. Partners must uphold these same rights and principles:


3.1. Freedom of Association


Partners’ employees have the right to freedom of association, the right to form and join trade unions to protect their interests, and the right to collective bargaining.


3.2. Non-Discrimination


All employees have equal rights and opportunities. Partners must not allow any form of discrimination or harassment in the workplace.


3.3. Working Hours, Wages, and Employment Contracts


Employees must be informed about their job content and terms, and they must be provided with a written employment contract in a language they understand before starting work.

Partners must pay employees at least the minimum wage as required by applicable laws or collective agreements and ensure mandatory payments such as social security contributions. We encourage partners to pay employees a wage that ensures a decent standard of living.

Working hours must comply with applicable laws, collective agreements, or ILO conventions. Partners must ensure that employees have sufficient rest time, breaks, annual leave, sick leave, and parental leave in accordance with applicable laws. Partners must maintain clear records of employees' working hours and wages.

Partners must also comply with requirements regarding work permits and employee qualifications.


3.4. Child and Forced Labor


Partners must not employ children under the age of 15. If local law sets a higher employment age, it must be adhered to. Youths aged 15 to 17 must not perform work that could harm their health, safety, or development.

Partners must not use forced labor. Employees must be given the opportunity to resign with reasonable notice. Partners must not take away employees' personal identification documents or work permits. Partners must ensure that employees do not pay commissions or other fees related to their employment.


3.5. Occupational Health and Safety


"EMJ Metāls" prioritizes creating safe and healthy working conditions for all employees. Each employee must have the opportunity to receive proper training to perform their duties safely and be informed about safety instructions and guidelines. Employees must use appropriate protective equipment at work. We require partners to maintain safe and healthy working conditions in their production facilities and to follow established practices for accident prevention.

While working for "EMJ Metāls", employees must not be under the influence of intoxicating substances.


4. Environment


"EMJ Metāls" strives to continually reduce the environmental impact of its operations, such as CO2 emissions, and we expect the same from our partners. In procurement procedures, we prefer environmentally friendly and energy-efficient solutions when all alternatives are equal.

Partners must comply with environmental protection laws, guidelines, and instructions, ensuring they have the necessary permits and meet permit conditions. Partners must use materials, raw materials, energy resources, and natural resources efficiently. Partners must aim to reduce and monitor the environmental impact of their operations, including waste production, and ensure proper prevention of emissions such as noise, vibrations, and odors. Partners must restore and compensate for environmental damage caused by their operations.


5. Transparency and Reporting Obligation


Partners and their employees must report any violations of the Supplier Code of Ethics to an "EMJ Metāls" representative. "EMJ Metāls" is committed to investigating all reports and taking necessary actions if the report is justified. We require partners to engage in the investigation process.

We reserve the right to request additional information, as well as to monitor and verify compliance with these principles. "EMJ Metāls" may also appoint an external partner to carry out these actions. If negligence is observed in the supply chain, the partner must immediately report it to "EMJ Metāls". Partners must also promptly inform "EMJ Metāls" of any events that may jeopardize "EMJ Metāls" reputation or otherwise affect its business. If necessary, we will provide guidance and assistance on issues requiring improvement. We reserve the right to cancel previously approved requirements or terminate the contract with a partner if the situation demands it.


6. Entry into Force


By signing a contract with "EMJ Metāls", the partner agrees to comply with this Supplier Code of Ethics, as well as other instructions and orders issued by "EMJ Metāls" in accordance with these principles. Partners must ensure that their subcontractors also comply with this Code of Ethics.
